Kawasaki KFX Ninja

Kawasaki KFX NinjaI did the homework and I am Very Happy
Mark Lewis (Pennsylvania)

We have twin Boys that just turned 3 and a 7 year old. We planned to buy two of these ATV's for the boys and the girl to share. Bad Plan Dad. We ended up buying the third one for the seven year old. They all love these things and ride them every day. I assembled my review into category to help would be purchasers.

1.) Assembly..... 30 minutes mechanical the first one, 30 minutes for stickers. When I assembled number two I got it down to 30 minutes combined and by the time I did the third one it was 20-25 minutes to assemble. The things come completely ready except putting the wheels on and the steering assembly that is so easy an 8th grader should be able to do it.

2.) Modifications. Go to powerwheelsmodifications.com it is a great site. We have lots of grass and hills on our 2.5 acre property along with gravel roads. I decided to cut up BMX tires and screw them into the rear wheels as traction treads. They have used these things in the snow, wet grass on steep hills and NEVER had to be pushed except when the battery dies.

3.) Battery life. Expect 3 hours on flat ground 1.5-2 on hills due to the internal braking system, going down hills takes as much juice as going up.
We invested in two additional batteries and two quick 2 hour chargers. The standard chargers take overnight to charge up. That will disappoint a child with a dead battery quickly. If you go to the modifications site it will educate you on better battery setups and how to link batteries for more speed etc.

4.) Reliability, we are into this almost two months with daily use not a single problem. They run great, look great, and all three kids love them. Especially when Dad is out mowing with the tractor they love to cruise around.

5.) Ease of operation, our children seemed to get the whole backing up button and the turbo feature within a few hours of use. One of them took a day or two before we could let him go at it unsupervised. (We have no traffic to worry about just Deer)

Overall I couldn't be happier with the purchase, the kids love them and with the one small modification and a couple of extra batteries and chargers what might have been shortcomings were overcome.
